You Better Be-Leaf It!

Say ‘Goodbye’ to the summer season, and say ‘Hello’ to fall!

October 5, 2020

Say ‘Goodbye’ to the summer season, and say ‘Hello’ to fall! While you’re at it – it’s time to clean up any old, over-used, and broken summer yard items that may be laying around.

Fall cleanup doesn’t have to be stressful or overwhelming. As you begin to declutter your homes and yards, you may come across seasonal items that you’re unsure how to properly dispose of.

Rockland Green has created a “Fall Clean Up Cheat Sheet”, so you can spend less time cleaning and more time enjoying the brisk fall weather.

Mixed Rigid Plastic & Bulk Plastics:

Non-Recyclable Items:

Plastic Lawn Chairs
Children’s Swimming Pools & Tubes
Little Tike Slides
Garden Hoses
Plastic Planters
Mixed Ridge Plastic & Bulk Plastics should not be included as residential recycling. These items can be placed in your normal trash or in bulk collection. Rockland County residents can deliver these items for a minimum fee at any of the three Rockland County Transfer Stations.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW):

After you dig deep in your sheds and garages, you’ll probably end up with miscellaneous items like summer liquids and propane tanks. Don’t worry – we have a facility for that!

Accepted Household Hazardous Waste Items:

  • Pool Chemicals
  • Driveway Sealers
  • Motor Oils
  • Kerosene
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Propane Tanks (up to 20lbs)

  • Air Conditioners

Our Household Hazardous Waste Facility (HHW) is a drop-off collection facility that accepts household hazardous waste materials from Rockland County residents and small businesses that qualify for CESQG status.
Upcoming Scheduled HHW Drop-Off Dates (8am – 1pm):

Weekdays: Every Monday through Friday (except holidays)

Yard Waste

Once your yard items have been sorted and properly disposed of, break that rake out! Yard Waste is collected from residents’ homes throughout Rockland County and then composted, mulched, and marketed. A portion of the compost and mulch is available to the municipalities for use in public works projects and distribution to their residents.

Yard Waste Items:

  • Grass
  • Leaves
  • Brush
